How much water does rice need?
The amount of water needed to cook rice depends on the variety of rice and the cooking method. There is no single ratio that works perfectly for every type of rice — the best approach is always to check the packet instructions for the specific variety you are using.
As a general starting point, a ratio of 2 parts water to 1 part rice works well for most white rice varieties cooked by the absorption method. This means that for every gram of rice, you add approximately 2 ml of water.
